In Pando, goal setting is flexible and collaborative. Whether you’re creating a goal for yourself, for the company, or in collaboration with others, the platform ensures clear ownership and accountability. This article outlines who can create goals, how to manage sub-goals, and what to consider when creating or editing goals.
Who Can Create Goals?
Anyone Can Create a Goal
Employees at all levels can create goals, including company-wide goals. This allows for open collaboration and alignment.
Creating Sub-Goals
You can create sub-goals tied to someone else’s goal. This helps align individual efforts with broader objectives.
Sub-goals are owned and managed by the person they are assigned to, even if they are tied to a parent goal.
Creating Goals on Behalf of Others
You can create a goal for someone else, such as a direct report or a peer. However, if you assign someone as a Contributor to a goal, they must accept the goal before it becomes active.
Private Goals:
You can create private goals for yourself.
Your manager can also create private goals for you.
Note: You cannot create private or personal goals for peers or others outside your reporting structure.
Managing Goals with Sub-Goals
Ownership and Deletion:
If you own a goal that has sub-goals created by others, you have the ability to delete all associated sub-goals if you delete your parent goal.
Best Practice: Instead of deleting sub-goals, consider reassigning them to ensure continuity and ownership.
Tips for Goal Management
Alignment and Communication:
Always communicate with contributors or team members when creating shared goals or assigning sub-goals.
Reassign Instead of Delete:
To avoid disrupting progress, reassign sub-goals to another owner if you no longer wish to manage the parent goal.
