(Managers, if you're hoping to assess your team members, head here)

Self-assessments

To get started, click Start Assessment on your Profile Page.

Alternatively, go to the Assessments Tab and click on Start Assessment

Most likely, you will have an assessment cycle in progress. If that's the case, click "Continue Self Assessment" in the screenshot above or select the one with the cycle tag in the screenshot below.

  • If you have reports in Pando click Pick Myself then Start

  • If you do not have reports, simply click Start

Tip: Talk to your manager or your People team about your approach! In some cases, you'll want to add a comment for a competency. In others, that may not be necessary. For example, quarterly assessments may be "lighter weight" than end-of-year ones. If so, consider time-boxing your self-assessment to 45 minutes and focus your comments on ratings that are either outside of delivering or meaningfully different than the last time that competency was rated.

Start by highlighting 3-5 of your achievements and completed goals that you think were the most impactful to the business, your customers, or your colleagues. Select Next to head to your competencies.

To rate a competency, click directly on a rating, in this case, Delivering and add additional comments below if you wish to leave context. You can see to the right, your rubric, goals (active, completed, and missed), feedback and previously assessed ratings of these competencies are easily accessible as you think through the most accurate rating.

Rating definitions

Rate each competency independently of all the others and as objectively as you can. It's very possible to be excelling in one area and working on another, for example. Use the definitions below to help decide the appropriate rating for each:

Building - You're working on this competency. Perhaps you recently moved up a level or into a new role. While you outperformed at your last level, you've just started developing at this next level.

Improving - You are improving on a competency if you've started to build a track record of success at it, yet are still working on how to maintain consistency.

Delivering - When you're on track with a competency, that behavior or skill has become second nature to you, resulting in consistency and quality.

Excelling - You're excelling when you are consistently doing a quality job with this competency and also going above and beyond on occasion.

Outperforming - You're outperforming when you are going above and beyond in every context of this competency and you are ready to take on the competency at the next level.

Note: Your organization may have custom ratings names and definitions. If so, check with your People team for further clarity.

Finishing up your self-assessment

After you've finished assessing each set of competencies, you'll come to three final prompts: Start Doing, Stop Doing, and Continue Doing. Finish out your self-reflection by listing out the highest impact things you can start, stop, and continue.

Click Review under the retro questions, you will now be taken to a final review screen where you can view and edit all fields of your self-assessment. Finally, click submit once you are satisfied with your assessment! You'll need to complete your self-assessment before your manager can complete their assessment of you.

Once you submit your self-assessment, you will no longer be able to edit it, so wait to submit until you're satisfied with your ratings and comments.

Once your manager has completed your assessment, you'll both have access to the calibration chart, be sure to have a calibration conversation to discuss where you and your manager are aligned and where you're not. Remember misalignment isn't necessarily a bad thing--just an opportunity to get even more on the same page!
